PED gives two-month deadline to owners operating cars on open letter for registration

LAHORE: A two-month grace period has been given by Punjab Excise Department (PED) to people for registering vehicles on their own names, who are currently using them under the open letter.

PED has directed car owners using cars on open letters to visit their office for transfer of ownership officially, reported PakWheels.

Starting from 1st May 2018 it would become mandatory for both seller and buyer to visit the excise office for transfer of ownership of vehicle to the new owners’ name.

While talking to the media, a customs department official said computerized transfer deeds would be issued, complete information of transferee, transferred and vehicle will be published on them.

Buyers and sellers would be required to put their thumb imprint and sign on it and submit it to PED and in addition biometric verification would be carried out by excise department and a picture would be taken as well.
