Asad Umar chairs meeting of standing committee on industries and production

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Industries and Production was held under the chairmanship of MNA Asad Umar in the Parliament House and discussed the comprehensive report of the previous recommendations of the committee.

The committee recommended approving all the projects regarding Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2018-19, except for the projects related to Aik Hunar Aik Nagar (AHAN).

The standing committee also discussed “the progress report on the letter of chairman, standing committee dated 18-12-2017 regarding the investigation of management/defalcation in Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Karachi by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to fix the responsibility for the losses to the country”.

The Secretary Ministry of Industries and Production informed the committee that work had already been started on the said issues.

The standing committee further discussed the operations of the Khadi Crafts Development Company (KCDC) and recommended that the Secretary of Ministry of Industries and Production clearly state if the running of the company was the responsibility of the federal or provincial government.

Members who attended the meeting included Chairman and MNA Asad Umar, MNA Mehboob Alam, MNA Alhaj Shah Jee Gul Afridi, MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch, MNA Sajida Begum, MNA  Riaz-ul-Haq, and MNA Iftikhar-ud-din.
