Sindh seeks SMEDA’s help for dairy revival

LAHORE: The dairy and cattle farming industry of Sindh has sought help from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) for the revival of dairy industry in the province of Sindh.

A six-member delegation of Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association, led by its president Shaker Umer Gujjar, held a meeting with SMEDA Chief Executive Officer Sher Ayub Khan here at SMEDA Head Office on Monday. SMEDA General Manager (Business and Sector Development Services) Ashfaq Ahmad, General Manger (Central Support Division) Fuad Hashim and Manager (Dairy) Adnan Ali were also present.

Shaker told SMEDA chief that dairy and cattle farming industry of Sindh was facing a severe crisis due to low productivity of cows and buffalos in the falling summer season. He urged training and support for the upgradation of the dairy farms on modern lines, as SMEDA had done in the Punjab province.

The SMEDA CEO pledged his full support to the delegation for upgradation of the dairy industry in Sindh and formed a team for necessary intervention. He deputed Provincial Chief SMEDA Sindh Mukesh Kumar to make a pro-active coordination between the industry and SMEDA head office. The CEO also nominated Manager (Dairy) Adnan Ali to chalk out an emergent action plan for enhancing productivity of the dairy farms by implementing environmentally controlled sheds techniques.
