ISLAMABAD: To facilitate the regularization and registration of unregistered mobile phones brought illegally, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has created a procedure which will allow paying duties and taxes online.

According to the policy, overseas Pakistani’s can bring only one mobile phone with them without paying duties and taxes.

And the phone will be registered in the white list of the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) without paying any taxes or duties.

However, sellers of mobile phones would be required to pay duties and taxes too and fines for their registration according to the adjudication mechanism.

The tax regulator on Monday issued a Customs General Order and it has replaced the one notified last year on November 29th, 2018.

Earlier, on 15th January, the government had launched DIRBS as per which phones not matching the white list will be blocked.
