Govt urged to safeguard local industry

‘Govt should instruct all business-related departments to focus on resolving key issues of the industry’

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ahmed Hassan Moughal has said that the local industry was facing many problems at the hands of Capital Development Authority, Federal Board of Revenue, Labour Department as well as other business-related departments.

While addressing a convention of local industrialists, he stressed that the government should issue instructions to all business-related departments to focus on resolving key issues of the industry on priority basis so as to facilitate the growth of industrial activities.

The purpose of organising the convention was to bring local industrialists on one platform and discuss their major issues.

Moughal called upon the government to consider offering a special package to the local industry to promote industrialisation in the region. He said that the government has set a target of creating 10 million jobs during its tenure and if a supportive environment was created for the industry, it would help expedite the government’s efforts in achieving its target.

He urged the government to take all stakeholders on board with regard to improving ease of doing business in Pakistan.
