ISLAMABAD: The export of cement from the country increased by 46.52pc in June 2020 as compared to the same month of last year.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), cement exports were recorded at $16.935 million in June 2020, as against the exports of $11.558 million in June 2019.
However, on a month-on-month basis, the export of cement decreased by 12.27pc in June 2020 as compared to the exports of $19.303 million in May 2020.
Meanwhile, on a cumulative basis, the country’s cement exports witnessed a decrease of 4.52pc during the fiscal year 2019-20, as against the corresponding period of last year.
The country exported cement worth $259.441 million during FY20, as against the exports of $271.728 million during the same period last year.
In terms of quantity, cement exports increased by 10.79pc, from 6,411,359 metric tonnes to 7,103,373 metric tonnes.
It is pertinent to mention that the country’s trade deficit witnessed a significant reduction during FY20, declining by 27.12pc as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
