FBR exempts sales tax on 61 Covid-related medical goods

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday exempted sales tax on the import of medical instruments and equipment for prevention and treatment of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to FBR’s SRO 1257(I)/2020, sales tax exemption has been granted on the import of around 61 Covid-related items with effect from October 1, 2020, till June 30, 2021.

On Tuesday, the FBR had exempted customs duty, regulatory duty and additional customs duty on import of 61 diagnostic support and personal protective equipment (PPEs) for a period of seven months in order to reduce the rising prices in the domestic market.

The decision on duty waiver came through SRO1251 issued by the FBR.
