FBR holds pre-bidding conference for Track & Trace System

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday held a pre-bidding conference for the grant of a five-year licence to electronically monitor (Track & Trace System) specified goods i.e. tobacco, cement, sugar and fertilizer.

The pre-licencing conference was held at FBR headquarter which was attended by 25 participants physically while another 15 participants joined through video link. Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Member (IR-Operation) and Tariq Hussain Shaikh, Project Director (Track & Trace System), conducted the conference and explained the functions, features and purpose of implementing the Track & Trace System in Pakistan, which includes minimum human interface, prevention of revenue leakage and underreporting, and to ensure proper payment of duty/taxes.

The participants showed their interest in the project and asked relevant and pertinent questions. The FBR team responded to all queries to the satisfaction of the participants, giving more clarity and understanding about the implementation and operationalization of the T&T system.

According to FBR, the last date for the bids is 19th December 2020, which will not be extended, as the Track & Trace System has been planned to be rolled out by 30 June 2021.
