ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned $100.920 million by providing different transport services in various countries during Q1FY21 as compared to the corresponding period last year, showing a decrease of 48.55 per cent as compared to $196.140 million earned through the provision of services during the corresponding period of FY20, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Tuesday.
During the period under review, the exports of sea transport services, however, witnessed an increase of 373.8pc, by going up from $6.640 million last year to $31.460 million during the period under review.
Among sea transport services, exports of freight services increased by 271pc from $3.900 million last year to $14.470 million.
The exports of air transport witnessed a decrease of 64.87pc by going down from $178.860 million last year to $62.840 million during Q1FY21.
Among air transport services, exports of passengers services decreased by 65.2pc, from $114.390 million to $39.770 million, whereas the exports of freight services also dipped by 2.9pc, from $5.190 million to $5.040 million.
Meanwhile, the exports of road transport services during the period under review witnessed a decline of 65pc by going down from $9.38 million to $3.280 million during this year.
It is pertinent to mention here that the country’s services trade deficit contracted by 50.91pc during Q1FY21 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
