Finance minister highlights economic developments with Chinese officials

Both sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and improving economic ties

During a meeting with Charge D’affaires of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China on Friday, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb shed light upon various economic developments within the country. 

He discussed the latest developments regarding the energy sector and the privatization process of the state-owned enterprises. 

Aurangzeb also discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and improving economic ties. In order to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), he further underscored the importance of export-led growth and that the Chinese government’s dedication to aid Pakistan was truly commendable. 

On the occasion, Minister for Power Awais Leghari highlighted that they greatly valued Chinese investment and were utilising it to its fullest by tackling issues within the energy sector and implementing new reforms to aid development. 

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister regarding Power, Muhammad Ali and Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Ali Pervaiz Malik were also present and witnessed the promises made to implement coordination in both countries as a result of the finance minister’s visit to China.
