United States (US) Consul General in Lahore, H.E. Stetson Sanders, met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday and commended the provincial government’s efforts to attract investment, promote business-friendly reforms, and pursue sustainable development.
Sanders appreciated Punjab’s e-Business project, describing it as a forward-looking initiative that improves the ease of doing business and encourages investor confidence. He also lauded the province’s ongoing progress in development and investment promotion, while thanking the Chief Minister for the warm hospitality extended to him.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of subjects, including trade, investment, cultural cooperation, and environmental sustainability.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed the strong and historic Pakistan–United States relations, noting that bilateral cooperation continues to reach new heights. She said that the recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the United States would further reinforce the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
The Chief Minister invited American investors to explore Punjab’s expanding business landscape, emphasizing that the province offers a conducive environment for trade and industrial growth.
Highlighting the government’s broader agenda, Maryam Nawaz briefed the Consul General on flood rehabilitation efforts, acknowledging the resilience shown by the people of Punjab during one of the worst floods in the province’s history. She said that after completing historic rescue and relief operations, the government is now focused on comprehensive rehabilitation for the affected communities.
She also outlined the province’s work on preserving cultural heritage sites to promote tourism, alongside women empowerment projects and eco-friendly initiatives that have contributed to improved air quality in Lahore and other major cities. The Chief Minister added that every possible measure is being taken to reduce cross-border smog and enhance environmental protection.
Consul General Sanders praised the speed and scale of Punjab’s development, describing the progress as both impressive and commendable.
