Islamabad admin launches electronic stamp paper system to streamline property transactions

New system promises faster, safer property deals by digitizing processes and reducing bureaucracy

Property transactions in Islamabad are set to become faster and more secure with the launch of an electronic stamp paper system by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration.

As per reports, the new system aims to streamline the property transfer process by digitising key steps such as property mutations, sale/purchase transactions, and ownership verification.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon highlighted that the initiative is designed to resolve long-standing issues such as delays, paperwork overload, and the uncertainty of property transaction legality. By minimizing human interaction and reducing the risk of fraud, the e-stamp system is expected to improve efficiency and public satisfaction.

“This system is part of a broader effort to digitize land records and improve service delivery,” Memon said, emphasizing its role in enhancing accessibility to public services. Residents will now be able to verify property ownership in real-time and complete transactions without the bureaucratic hurdles that have historically hindered the process.

Local residents have welcomed the move. Huma Khan, a resident who has faced delays in selling her flat, expressed optimism: “If this system works as promised, it will save people like me a lot of time and frustration.” Another resident, Mustafa, said, “Digital records are a step in the right direction. It will reduce corruption and make property dealings much safer for buyers and sellers.”

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) spokesperson described the e-stamp system as a significant move toward greater transparency in property dealings.
