Pakistan’s passport has climbed five places in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, improving its position to 98th from 103 last year, according to Henley Passport Index 2026.
The updated index places Pakistan alongside Yemen and ahead of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, reflecting a gradual improvement in global mobility for Pakistani passport holders.
Under the latest ranking, Pakistani citizens can access 31 destinations through visa-free or visa-on-arrival arrangements across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Oceania. Visa-free access includes countries such as Barbados, Cook Islands, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.
Visa-on-arrival facilities are available in destinations including Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Nepal, Niue, Palau, Qatar, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste and Tuvalu.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the improvement in Pakistan’s ranking, saying efforts would continue to further enhance passport strength and international mobility.
Globally, Singapore retained its position as the strongest passport for the third consecutive year, offering visa-free access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan and South Korea with access to 188 destinations.
