BoK MD terminated for misconduct

PESHAWAR

The government of KPK through Finance Department Thursday issued a termination notice to Managing Director Bank of Khyber (BoK) Shams-ul-Qayyum over misconduct.

Qayyum violated section 7 of his contract by publishing advertisements in a section of press and levelling allegations against the Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said of Jamaat-e-Islami last year, said a notification available with this news agency adding that KP finance minister lodged a complaint with the provincial government against MD BoK.

JI MPAs had signalled to quit the coalition government if the managing director was not changed.

The coalition party had expressed its resentment over KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak delaying the decision to remove BoK’s managing director and a decision to not grant more time to the government on the BoK matter was made by the party.

The provincial cabinet on September 7, 2017, considered the complaints of the minister and unanimously decided to issue a 7-day prior written termination notice to MD of the bank.
