Sindh moves to establish EV charging network in partnership with Chinese firm

Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Nasir Hussain Shah discuss clean transport future with AE Auto in Shanghai

Sindh is pushing ahead with plans to develop an extensive network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the province, following talks with Chinese charging technology company AE Auto.

Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon and Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah met AE Auto officials in Shanghai, where they were briefed on the company’s modern charging solutions.

Memon outlined Sindh’s strategy to expand EV charging facilities in both urban and rural areas, stressing that the province must not fall behind in adopting clean transport. “The future of transport is tied to clean energy and electric vehicles. Establishing EV charging stations across Sindh is crucial for environmental protection,” he said.

He assured that the Sindh government would extend full support and facilities to companies investing in alternative energy, highlighting that the initiative will reduce dependence on fossil fuels, cut air pollution, and generate economic opportunities through green technology.

Echoing these views, Shah said that energy and transport are now inseparable sectors. He pointed to Sindh’s significant progress in renewable energy and described electric mobility as the next vital step. “Electric vehicles will not only reduce reliance on traditional fuels but also help address the challenges posed by climate change,” he noted.
