Nepra imposes Rs100 million in fines on four power Discos for rule violations

Nepra fines GEPCO, FESCO, QESCO, and HESCO for violating regulations; fines to be deposited within 15 days or risk legal action.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has imposed a total of Rs 100 million in fines on four power distribution companies (Discos) for failing to comply with Nepra regulations.

As per reports, the fines include Rs 50 million for Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), Rs 10 million for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Rs 40 million for Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), and Rs 10 million for Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO).

Nepra has ordered the Discos to deposit the fines within 15 days from the date of issuance. Failure to comply will result in recovery of the amounts through legal means, as well as further legal action under Section 41 of the Nepra Act.
