IDB to finance purchase of 300 locomotives for PR

ISLAMABAD: The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is to finance fleet expansion plans of Ministry of Railways.

Three hundred locomotives will be inducted via this financing over a 7-year span. These locomotives will be purchased in complete knockdown (CKD) units and later on will be assembled in Pakistan locomotive factory, Risalpur.

Turkey also expanded its railway fleet with the help of IDB loan.
