Punjab finance minister discusses financial matters with Miftah Ismail

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha had a meeting with Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Dr Miftah Ismail here on Wednesday.

The two discussed financial matters pertaining to Punjab and requirement of finances for various development projects in the province.

Ayesha Ghaus Pasha gave the adviser an update on the steps being undertaken by the provincial government for improvement of public financial management and local resource mobilisation. She said that the provincial government is fully focused on taking measures in terms of public service delivery. She also shared with the adviser important spheres of focus of the Punjab government.

Miftah Ismail appreciated the development programmes and projects that the provincial government has undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and said these projects have had a noteworthy impact on the overall economic conditions in the province and other provinces should learn from Punjab’s example.

He added that the government is now concentrating on efforts for achieving the growth target for the current fiscal year and has strong resolve to continue the process of reforms it had undertaken immediately after assuming responsibilities.  He said that the government will extend full support to the provinces in their efforts for the economic well-being of the masses and welcome their contribution for the strengthening of the national economy.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Punjab Finance Department also attended the meeting.
