KFHA facing severe financial crisis

KARACHI: The government of Sindh is keen to develop the Karachi Fish Harbour (KFH) as per international standards, and is willing to provide complete assistance to the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA).

This was stated by the Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Government of Sindh Baqaullah Unar during his visit to the KFH.

Managing Director KFHA Mudassir Iqbal briefed the secretary and other authorities about KFHA and operations/activities at the KFH. He informed the secretary that KFHA was facing severe financial crises, and added that a summary for the Chief Minister Sindh for the annual grant to KFHA had already been submitted.

However, as per directives of the Chief Minister Sindh a comprehensive future plan to make the KFHA self-reliant was being submitted through the Administrative Department.

MD further briefed the Secretary that KFHA had started an awareness campaign to maintain hygienic conditions at KFH, and remove abandoned boats from the channel. Banners were displayed and pamphlets were distributed in the respective area.
