FPCCI invites political party’s chiefs to present economic agenda, roadmap

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FPCCI’s) Senior Vice President and Chairman, Budget Advisory Council, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir has invited the chiefs of political parties to visit the Federation House and present their economic agendas.

In his letter addressed to the chiefs of almost all the major political parties on Monday, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir has individually invited them to visit the Federation House, Karachi on a mutually convenient date and time and make a presentation to FPCCI members on the economic agenda and road map of priorities, as cherished by their parties for the revival of the economy and to steer the country out of the multi-faceted challenges being confronted such as the balance of payment, fiscal and debt sustainability, better management of public sector entities, reforms of transparency, eliminating the menace of corruption, ease of doing business etc.

He said that this would provide an opportunity to our members to discuss the matters of mutual interest particularly related to facilitating trade and industry with the view to enhance investment, increase production, boost exports, and curtail imports,

Elaborating the rationale behind the move, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir said, “Although a few days have remained in the upcoming election of 2018, yet none of the political parties have truly outlined its economic agenda”. It is axiomatic that the economic challenges for the next elected government will be tougher than the recently out-going democratic government, he added.

Therefore, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), an apex trade body of Pakistan, consisting of 210 Trade Bodies including local Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Trade Associations across Pakistan, has initiated a programme to invite the country’s top political party leaders to discuss their economic agenda and other national issues, the SVP of FPCCI concluded.

  1. FPCCI should connect with all local CCI nationwide through video link and the economic agenda by political chiefs should be presented on that video link.
