ISLAMABAD: In order to facilitate the taxpayers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline to file income tax returns till December 31st.
The previous deadline in this regard was December 16th (Monday).
According to sources, the FBR has received as many as 1.89 million returns so far (until Dec 16) for the tax year 2019. Last year, they added, the revenue board had received more than 2.5 million returns owing to several extensions in the deadline.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, the Federal Board of Revenue is pleased to extend the date of filing of Income Tax Returns/Statements for the Tax Year 2019,” FBR’s official notification read. “Individuals and associations of persons who were required to file their income tax returns for the tax year 2019 first by Sept 30 and then by an extended deadline of December 16, but failed to do so will now be able to file their income tax returns by Dec 31.”
