Govt slashes petrol price by Rs15

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday reduced the prices of petroleum products by Rs15 to Rs30 to facilitate the general public amid falling crude prices internationally.

According to an official notification issued by the Finance Division, the per liter price of petrol has been slashed from Rs96.58 to Rs81.58, High Speed Diesel (HSD) from Rs107.25 to Rs80.10, Kerosene Oil from Rs 77.45 to Rs47.44 and Light Diesel Oil from Rs62.51 to Rs47. 51.

The new prices will be applicable from May 1.

On Wednesday, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended a huge cut in price of petroleum product for the month of May.

In its summary to the Ministry of Petroleum, the regulatory body recommended that petrol price be slashed by Rs20.68 per liter, high speed diesel by Rs 33.94 per liter, kerosene oil by Rs44.07 per liter and light diesel oil by Rs24.57 per liter.

HSD is used in heavy transportation fuel, LDO in industries, petrol in public transportation while kerosene is used for cooking purposes, especially in remote areas where LPG or pipeline gas is not available.
