Govt likely to appoint Tariq Huda as Member Customs Operations

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to appoint Tariq Huda as Customs operations’ member, sources revealed on Friday.

According to details, a friend of one cabinet member is allegedly lobbying for Huda for the lucrative position of Member Customs Operations.

Tariq Huda on Friday was repatriated to his parent department, the Federal Board of Revenue, from the Commerce Division.

“Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, a BS-2 officer of Pakistan Customs Service, presently posted as Commerce Division Additional Secretary and also holding the additional charge of the post of Chairman State Life Insurance Cooperation limited, is repatriated to his parent department, Fbr, with immediate effect and until further orders,” the notification stated.

Sources said that Tariq Huda’s repatriation to his parent department is raising questions as Special Assistant to PM on Accountability Shahzad Akbar is conducting an investigation into the import of medicine from India despite ban. Tariq Huda held the portfolio of import and export in the Ministry of Commerce, they added.
