ECC likely to allocate funds for media campaigns on Covid-19

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) would take up nine agenda items in its upcoming meeting, scheduled to be held tomorrow (Wednesday).

The ECC meeting, which would be held under the chair of Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, would deliberate upon the National Disaster Management Authority’s request for the provision of funds amounting to Rs100 million to combat the outbreak of locusts in Punjab. Besides, the NDMA has also sought an ex-post facto approval of $50 million on account of Pakistan National Emergency Preparedness and Response for Covid-19 (Procurement of Equipment and Transfer of Funds).

Meanwhile, the committee is likely to approve a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) in favour of Pakistan Academy for Rural Development (PARD), Peshawar, under its budget for FY20. In addition, a TSG of Rs1,300 million for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, and a TSG of Rs235 million for Pakistan Rangers is also likely to be approved.

On the request of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECC is likely to allocate funds for media campaigns on Covid-19. 

The forum would also take up the agenda of Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) regarding the approval of book value adjustment of the overdue amount of loans and conversion of loans into federal government loans.
