Select USA Investment Summit welcomes Pakistani Investors’ participation

The American Commercial Counselor Steve Knode, on Tuesday, has invited Pakistani businessmen to participate in Select USA Investment Summit, due to be held in Washington from June 18 to 20 this year.

The event will encourage Pakistani investors to explore new business opportunities and will give them a chance to interact with global participants.
The Select USA Investment Summit brings the diversity of the United States together under one roof providing opportunities for businesses to tap potential people, the resources, and the market in order to be successful.
During his visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, he informed that the US welcomed all sorts of investors of all sizes including established multinationals, SMEs and high-growth startups. He added that the participants at the first three Investment Summits had announced more than $20.6b in greenfield FDI into the United States since 2013.
He urged the Pakistani investors to seek maximum participation in the event to order to boost their business prospects. He revealed that Pakistan’s exports to US are improving and welcomed close collaboration between private sectors of both countries. He said that this will bring latest technology and machinery into Pakistan in various sectors.
Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Malik, Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted that Pakistan and USA are strategic partners in the war against terrorism. He, however, regretted that the economy of Pakistan had suffered losses worth billions in fighting against terrorism.

He expressed his views that the best way for the USA to support Pakistan’s economy is to allow greater penetration of Pakistani products in the US markets. He encouraged both countries to promote strong linkages between their private sectors to establish long-term and sustainable trade and economic relations.

He further stated that ICCI is keen to work with US Embassy in allowing greater collaboration between the business communities of both countries.
