Wi-tribe becomes first Pakistani ISP to cross 200mbps internet speeds

Lahore: Wi-tribe has become the first Pakistani ISP using LTE-Advanced technology network to achieve internet speeds of over 200Mbps, said a statement from the company.

LTE-A is also termed as 4.5G and Wi-tribe is carrying out upgradation to its existing network where its services are offered. This is expected to cost the company in the region of $100m over a period of three years.

Customers in Lahore and Karachi are expected to be the first beneficiaries of these blazing fast 4.5G LTE-A speeds being marketed by Wi-tribe.

Pakistan will become the first country in the Middle East and South Asia to deploy LTE-A capable of giving 4.5 speeds to end consumers. This will enable customers to stream Ultra HD content without experiencing buffering due to slow speeds.

Huawei has been assigned the responsibility of laying Wi-tribe LTE-A 4.5g network in the first segment.

Wi-tribe President, Shahid Malik on the occasion said that it was a big milestone for the company to break the 200Mbps internet speed barrier and delivering the country’s fastest home broadband service.

Malik added that speeds of 200Mbps won’t be offered to its customers, but it is expected that high speed packages and volumes will indeed be marketed to them.
