ISLAMABAD: Domestic production of vegetable ghee and cooking oil increased by 7.90 per cent and 4.50 per cent respectively in last four months as compared the production of same period last year.
During the period from July-October 2017-18, about 435,810 tonnes of vegetable ghee was manufactured as compared to 403,831 metric tonnes of same period last year, according to the computation of quantum index numbers of large-scale manufacturing industries.
On month on month basis, domestic ghee manufacturing grew by 2.19 per cent as about 103,654 metric tonnes of ghee was produced in October 2017 as compared the production of 101,434 tonnes of same period last year.
Meanwhile, local cooking oil production witnessed 4.50 per cent growth in last four months as about 128,140 tonnes of edible oil was produced as compared to 122,617 tonnes of same period last year, it added.
However, month on month basis domestic cooking oil manufacturing decreased by 10.19 per cent as its production was recorded at 28,217 tonnes in October as compared to 31,419 tonnes of same period last year.
Wheat and grain milling posted 3.26 per cent growth as about 1,875,790 tonnes of wheat and other grains were milled in last four months as compared to 1,816,653, tonnes of same period last year, the data revealed.
During the period from July-October 2017-18, production of soft drinks grew by 22.45 per cent as about 1,536,631 thousand litres of soft drinks were produced in the country as against the production of 1,254,927 thousand litres of same period last year.
On month on month basis, domestic production of soft drinks witnessed about 93.70 per cent growth in October 2017 as about 530,038 thousand litres of soft drinks produced locally as compared the production of 273,645 thousand litres of same month last year, it added.
