Farmers urged to install drip irrigation system

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Agriculture department has urged farmers to install drip irrigation system in their fields as it is cost effective and offers handsome returns.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, Punjab Agriculture department Spokesman Najaf Abbas said that the government has initiated various projects to promote modern irrigation systems.

He said that the government is providing 60 per cent subsidy on installation of the drip irrigation system whereas farmers will only have to spend remaining 40 per cent.

He informed that 80 per cent subsidy is being given for running drip irrigation system on solar system adding he said that sprinkle irrigation system with solar system has been installed on an area of more than 1,500 acres in Punjab.
