WAPDA employees sensitised on tax filing

LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Tuesday organised a seminar in collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to educate the WAPDA employees on the benefits of acquiring National Tax Number (NTN) and filing tax returns.

The seminar was a part of FBR’s campaign to create awareness on payment of taxes. FBR Inland Revenue’s Lahore Tax Office Commissioner Mrs Fiza Batool on the occasion conducted a comprehensive presentation on the procedure of filing returns and its benefits.

The commissioner emphasised on the need to educate the employees regarding the demerits of being a non-filer after the implementation of the differential tax scheme, in which non-filers are charged a higher rate of tax on various transactions such as bank withdrawals, purchase of cars and property etc.

The commissioner stressed the need for proper filing of income tax returns by the employees of large organisations and offered to organize more training workshops to explain the benefits of being a tax filer. She also informed the participants about the benefits of e-filing and how the employees need to be educated in respect of discharging their tax obligations.
