Remittances grow 8.4pc to $17.9bn in 10 months

The total amount remitted by overseas Pakistanis during the first 10 months of the fiscal year 2018-19 reached $17.89 billion, as compared to $16.48 billion remitted during the corresponding period of FY18, showing an increase of $1.4 billion or 8.45pc.

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis remitted $1.78 billion in the month of April 2019 as compared to $1.75 billion in March, showing an increase of $33.10 million over the previous month. The remittances increased by $100.03 million when compared to April 2018.

Saudi Arabia was the largest source of remittances having contributed $427.82 million, followed by UAE with $372.43 million and the UK providing $280.02 million.
