FBR’s Benami Authority barred from taking action against Arif Habib Ltd

ISLAMABAD: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday barred the Benami Transaction Adjudicating Authority of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from taking any action against Arif Habib Limited with regard to alleged shareholding in Benami companies.

The court, while issuing notices to the authority, summoned its officials on January 14, 2020.

FBR’s BTAA had served notices to Arif Habib Limited under the Benami Transaction (Prohibition) Act, 2017, with regard to shareholding in four Benami companies.

Arif Habib remained unavailable to comment on the issue despite repeated attempts.
