The export of tobacco from the country witnessed an increase of 60.67pc during the first three quarters of the financial year 2019-20, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Tobacco exports from the country were recorded at $28.716 million during July-March FY20, as against the exports of $17.873 million during July-March FY19, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
In terms of quantity, the export of tobacco increased by 37.41pc, from 7,875 metric tonnes last year to 10,821 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile, on a year-to-year basis, tobacco export surged 399pc during the month of March 2020 when compared with the same month of last year. The export of tobacco during March 2020 was recorded at $2.790 million, as against $0.559 million in March 2019.
On a month-on-month basis, the tobacco export witnessed a decreased of 66.35pc in March 2020 when compared to the exports of $8.291 million in February 2020.
