FIA arrests religious teacher for blackmailing and abusing minor

A religious teacher has been arrested after using his 13-year-old female student’s personal photographs to blackmail her, confirmed Faizullah Korejo, the additional director at the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Reporting Centre in Karachi.

The teacher had reportedly been using indecent pictures of the 13-year-old to blackmail her. When she complained about being “physically abused”, the mother had bravely come forward to the report the teacher who had been hired to teach the girl about the Holy Quran at their home.

The teacher had also sent the images to the mother on WhatsApp, threatening to make them viral on social media if his unreasonable and unethical demands were not met.

FIA team, after obtaining the needed approval from the relevant authority, conducted a raid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal to apprehend the suspect.

“The Qari has been arrested by the raiding party,” said Korejo, adding that law-enforcement personnel also confiscated the mobile phone in his possession.

The minor victim was also given professional counselling by the FIA through a stress counsellor.

The suspect has been booked under Sections 22 and 24 of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, and Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
