Gilgit-Baltistan police ban TikTok for force personnel

Directive aims to maintain discipline and uphold the department's image

The Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) police chief has prohibited the use of the social media platform TikTok by all personnel, citing concerns over discipline and the image of the police force.

As per reports, a notification issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) stated that no officer or official of the G-B police force would be allowed to use TikTok. The directive stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, uniformity, and dignity within the force.

The order was communicated to district police officers and unit heads, instructing them to relay the message to all members of their teams. It also warned that any violation would result in serious disciplinary action.

This ban follows similar actions by law enforcement agencies across Pakistan. In July, two constables from Islamabad’s Security Division were suspended for violating the capital police’s social media code by making TikTok videos while in uniform. Additionally, several lower-ranking officers were advised to delete their TikTok accounts to avoid disciplinary measures.

Earlier in March, the Punjab Police had issued a similar directive, barring its officers from sharing “offensive views” on personal social media accounts.
