Pakistan, Italy to boost cooperation in marble and granite sector 

SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasizes technology, skills development, and Marble City hub in Risalpur for exports and innovation

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the Pakistan–Italy agreement in the marble and granite sector.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation to modernize the industry, promote skill development, and expand international market access. Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted that land has already been allocated for the establishment of Marble City in Risalpur, intended as a hub for innovation, processing, and exports.

He reaffirmed the Ministry of Industries and Production’s commitment to strengthening ties with Italy in the sector and stressed that the project aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to bring Pakistan’s marble industry up to international standards through technological advancement and global partnerships.

Khan directed that the initiative be prioritized in the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) 2025 and called for a follow-up meeting with all relevant stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of the agreed decisions.
