The federal government has disbursed over Rs 2.43 billion for projects of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) during the first quarter of fiscal year 2025–26, under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
According to official PSDP data, Rs 111.77 million out of the authorized amount has been utilized so far across several IT and telecom initiatives.
For the ongoing fiscal year, the government has earmarked Rs 16,227.493 million for the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division, including Rs 15,777.493 million for ongoing schemes and Rs 450 million for new initiatives.
Key ongoing projects include the establishment of an IT Park in Karachi under the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the Technology Park Development Project in Islamabad (TDP), the Digital Economy Encampment Project, the expansion of cellular services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (Phase VI) through the Special Communications Organization (SCO), and the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Programme. The revamping of the IT industry also continues under this allocation.
Among the new projects initiated this year are the National Artificial Intelligence Advancement Initiative, GDPR-driven ISCO compliance and IT export enhancement, and the Smart Islamabad Initiative, aimed at accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation and regulatory modernization.
