Trump offers expedited permits for companies investing $1 billion in U.S.

The package aims to fast-track export permits for liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects and expand oil drilling on federal lands and offshore areas

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced a policy on Tuesday to offer expedited approvals and permits, including environmental clearances, for any individual or company investing at least $1 billion in the United States.

The statement was shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, though further details were not provided.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Trump’s transition team is preparing a package to be unveiled shortly after his inauguration on January 20. The package will aim to fast-track export permits for liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects and expand oil drilling on federal lands and offshore areas.

It remains unclear how Trump would address the role of independent commissions, such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which recently mandated additional environmental reviews for LNG projects.

Additionally, Trump plans to roll back key regulations introduced under Democratic President Joe Biden. These include tax credits for electric vehicles and clean power plant standards designed to transition away from coal and natural gas. His transition team has not yet commented on these developments.
