ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan Airlines launched its direct flight service from Islamabad to Tashkent today. The first flight, HY466, took off from Islamabad International Airport at 1309 hours with 126 passengers on board.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) organized a ceremony to mark the occasion. The event was attended by the ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
Senior officials from various organizations were also present, including the PAA’s Chief Operating Officer, the Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), and the Country Manager of Uzbekistan Airlines.
Passengers checked in at Zone 1 of the airport. The airline and airport staff welcomed them at Stand 3. A cake-cutting ceremony was held at the upper lounge (A5).
The PAA stated that airport teams worked together to manage the flight and the event. The Authority said the new route would support international aviation links and provide a direct travel option between Pakistan and Central Asia.
According to the PAA, the new service is expected to improve travel, trade, and regional cooperation. The Authority also said it would continue efforts to expand global flight connections.
