The UK government has rolled out a new eVisa system for Pakistani applicants seeking study or work visas, eliminating the need for a physical visa sticker on passports starting from July 15.
This move replaces the traditional process that required submitting physical immigration documents.
According to the British High Commission’s announcement, the change aims to streamline the visa application process, making it easier for students and workers to prove their visa status and identity. British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, stated that the update will save applicants time by allowing them to retain their passports.
The eVisa is a digital record of a person’s immigration status in the UK, which can be accessed online through the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. Applicants can view their immigration status and any related conditions online.
The new system is part of the UK’s effort to enhance its border and immigration process, making it more secure and digital. It applies to a range of visa categories, including study, work, and youth mobility schemes. However, applicants for other visa types, such as general visitor visas, will still need a physical visa sticker.
The British High Commission reassured applicants that switching to an eVisa will not affect their immigration status or visa conditions. Those with existing physical visa stickers do not need to take any action.
