SECP completes stakeholder consultation on private fund regulation amendments

SECP seeks industry feedback on proposed changes to private fund regulations to align with global standards

Islamabad – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) concluded its stakeholder consultation sessions in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, aimed at discussing proposed amendments to the Private Fund Regulations, 2015.

The sessions, which included industry representatives, fund managers, legal advisors, and multilateral donor agencies, were part of SECP’s transparent approach to policy revisions. These meetings, held in Islamabad on July 30, Lahore on August 18, and Karachi on August 27, focused on raising awareness about the proposed changes and fostering collaboration between the regulator and industry stakeholders.

The consultations followed the release of SECP’s Consultation Paper in July 2025, which was based on initial industry feedback. The paper outlines proposed revisions designed to enhance the structure and governance of private equity and venture capital funds, including clearly defined subtypes, expanded investor eligibility, and improved governance frameworks.

SECP is inviting further feedback on the proposed amendments, with stakeholders encouraged to submit their views by September 5, 2025. The Consultation Paper is available on SECP’s official website.
