SBP declares January 1 bank holiday for public dealing

Banks to remain closed for customers, staff to attend offices

The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on Thursday, January 1, 2026, which will be observed as a bank holiday.

In a notice, the central bank said all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs) and microfinance banks (MFBs) will also remain closed for public dealing on the day.

However, the SBP clarified that employees of banks, DFIs and MFBs will attend offices as usual.
