WAPDA chairman discusses financing for WAPDA projects with French ambassador

LAHORE: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Muzammil Hussain today called on the French Ambassador to Pakistan Marc Barety and discussed with him matters relating to mutual cooperation aimed at optimal utilisation of water and hydropower resources in Pakistan through various WAPDA projects.

Speaking on the occasion, WAPDA chairman thanked the French government for providing financial assistance of the French development agency, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), to implement WAPDA projects in water and hydropower sectors.

Highlighting the significance of foreign investment for the construction of water and hydropower projects, he said that the projects in both sectors offer excellent investment opportunities, which can be availed by financial institutions like AFD on mutually beneficial terms.

The chairman further said that he is confident that the cooperation between AFD and WAPDA will further strengthen for upcoming WAPDA projects.

In addition to ongoing WAPDA projects, the possibility of financial support by AFD for the construction of upcoming WAPDA Projects was also discussed in detail during the meeting.
