Unemployment a serious threat, need new avenues for investment, says deputy chairman Senate

ISLAMABAD: Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwala has said that there is a dire need to search for new avenues of investment as unemployment is posing serious threats to the economy with each passing day.

He stated this while addressing the audience at the job fair seminar held by the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) at the Housing Expo.

Saleem Mandviwala said that providing employment should be the top priority for every political party.

Deputy Chairman Senate further stated that ABAD has initiated important work for mitigating the unemployment in country and Pakistan people Party will continue to support the association.

NAVTIC Chairman Zulfiqar Cheema while addressing the audience stated that unemployment is increasing day by day in the country. Protection of life and property are crucial, and the government should address this issue.

He further stated that NAVTIC is providing skills to 100,000 youth and while providing Rs3,000 to every student during their training programme.

Presently, 11 million Pakistani youth is unemployed, and it is a challenge to provide jobs and we have to solve this matter on priority basis, he added.

The Secretary-General of Asia Pacific Zegum Naqvi on this occasion said that housing sector contributes a lot to the development of the country. He added that according to a World Bank report world population will reach 8.92 billion by 2050 from 7.12 billion currently, while the world population will double in a hundred years from now.

He further stated that Pakistan needs 12 million houses due to increase in population, adding, although politicians talk about providing affordable housing for the nation, in reality, they never fulfil their promises.

He disclosed that prices of land have increased due to a shortage of houses in Karachi, besides the poor cannot even find affordable housing within Rs1.5 million.

He urged the government to provide soft loans to those people who want to buy low-cost houses.
