LAHORE: Saudi Arabia has reposed its confidence on the “sagacious, dynamic and scintillating” leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan by offering a $12 billion package to help the country’s address it’s financial crunch, said SAARC Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President and United Business Group Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik.

During a meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Wednesday, he said the people of Pakistan were proud of Saudi Arabia as it always helped Pakistan through difficult times, adding that the generosity of the Saudi government should never be forgotten.

Malik said the Muslim world greatly appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s firm stance on mitigation of corruption at any cost. He urged the opposition parties to sink their political differences and come forward to help strengthen the state by playing their due role in establishing the supremacy of the constitution, rule of law, promotion of democracy and development of national economy.

Malik said, “We are proud that the nation elected the ‘impeccable’ Imran Khan as its PM because he possessed inborn leadership abilities necessary to steer the country out of crisis.”

He told the governor that the entire business community has assured complete cooperation to the prime minister who in return promised that trade leaders will always be taken into confidence before the formulation of new policies.

“Muslims can emerge as a superpower if the entire Muslim community forges unity and pool their natural resources for the collective welfare of Muslims,” he said, lamenting that Muslim countries, despite being blessed with abundant resources, contribute a meagre amount of hardly 5 to 6 per cent in world trade.

He predicted that Prime Minister Imran Khan would emerge as a most popular leader in the entire Muslim world due to his honesty, clarity of thought and vision.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on the occasion thanked Iftikhar Ali Malik for his spirit of patriotism and his role in building the bridge between private sector and government.

The governor assured complete cooperation in addressing the genuine problems being confronted by the business community, saying, “The doors of the Governor House are always open for the business communities.”
