US consul general, Sindh governor discuss bilateral trade, business relations

KARACHI: United States Consul General in Karachi JoAnne Wagner led a five-member trade delegation in a meeting with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail here on Friday.

On the occasion, matters related to bilateral relations between the two countries were extensively discussed and it was agreed that cordiality between the two was equally beneficial for the region.

Geographical and commercial status of Karachi in particular context of international economy was also discussed with major focus on strong US-Pak trade and business relations. It was acknowledged to help eradicate poverty and establish peace and stability on a long term basis and promote people to people contact between the two countries.

Sindh governor, mentioning that a delegation of Pakistani businessmen will soon be visiting different cities of the US, said that American businessmen can fully avail investment opportunities in information technology and software development sectors across the country.

US consul general said that it was good to see Pakistan deciding its economic priorities in accordance to the need and capacities of its people. Wagner said that different US companies were currently doing their business in Pakistan as the country offers low cost investment coupled with provision for hardworking and skilled manpower.

She agreed that exchange of trade delegations between US-Pakistan could help improve business and investment opportunities.
