K-Electric asked to reduce time period for provision of new connections

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed K-Electric to reduce to one month the time period of providing new electricity connections.

The prime minister said this while chairing a meeting to review the progress on ‘Ease of Doing Business Strategy 2018-21’. The meeting was held at the PM Office, wherein Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Haroon Sharif briefed the prime minister about progress made so far in the implementation of the strategy.

The prime minister was briefed on the automation of electricity connection process by K-Electric, making it easier by shifting it to an online system where customers could track their applications.

The PM was also informed that the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) had been integrated with Punjab and Sindh business registration portals. “The company could be registered in one day with SECP on its online platform,” the BOI chairman said.

The PM was further apprised that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) had started its one-window operation for the issuance of construction permits. Similarly, the time period for such purposes has also been significantly reduced in Karachi.

The meeting was informed that the property registration process in Punjab has completely been computerized.

The BOI chairman further briefed the prime minister about the online payment collection process of federal and provincial taxes, contributions and duties.

He also briefed on the integration of key departments with the Web-Based One Customs system (WeBOC), an online platform of Pakistan Customs amid at helping the importers and exporters save their time and money.
