‘Agri development among top govt priorities’

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that uplift of the agriculture sector was among the top priorities of the government.

Talking to National Food Security and Research Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, PM Imran said, “The share of agriculture in the GDP and the fact that 50 per cent workforce is connected with it reflects the sector’s importance to the country’s economy.”

The prime minister said that agriculture has been made part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and that the government was striving to take full benefit from the Chinese expertise by introducing the latest technology and farming techniques in the sector.

This, he said, would help improve the productivity of the agriculture sector.

The PM expressed confidence that Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, who has recently been given the portfolio of the Ministry of National Food Security, would fully devote his energy for the development of the agriculture sector.
