NA committee reviews TUSDEC’s performance

National Assembly Standing Committee on Industries and Production reviewed the performance and working of Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) at its office here on Wednesday.

Committee’s chairman Asad Umar presided over a meeting and called for putting in place a well-coordinated mechanism for skill training of industrial workers.

He also stressed the need for further strengthening technology institutions such as TUSDEC to enable them to achieve their targets easily.

The committee also reviewed in detail the performance, working and initiatives of the company, and expressed its satisfaction over some of their projects for technology upgradation and skill development of industrial workers.

TUSDEC Chief Executive Officer Alamgir Chaudhry apprised the committee that TUSDEC was working on various technology upgradation and skill development projects being funded by international donors, including the European Union, UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and USAID (United States Agency for International Development). He added that the company had so far imparted skill training to more than 30,000 industrial workers and undertaken overall projects worth more than Rs 4 billion regarding skill development and technology upgradation.
