Punjab govt launches property tax portal

LAHORE: The Punjab government launched on Tuesday the property tax portal to enable the citizens to have an online access to their property record.

Addressing the launching ceremony at a local hotel, Punjab Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control (ET&NC) Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed, the minister said the property tax portal would facilitate the citizens in getting their property record corrected/changed with one click.

He said scanned copies of relevant property documents and pictures of the property could also be uploaded on the web portal as a proof. The citizens could also know about their property tax through the portal, the minister added.

Ahmed further said the entire information about respective properties would be available on the portal and the citizens could also manage themselves the property tax related requirements.

“We have empowered the people through use of modern technology. The portal system will not only save the taxpayers’ time and bring transparency in the tax collection, but also alleviate the discretionary powers of the ET&NC’s field staff, hence enhancing public confidence in the tax collection system,” the minister opined.

The citizens would be able to access the portal on ET&NC website (http://www.excise-punjab.gov.pk).
