Bike, three-wheeler sales decline 12.3pc in nine months

The sale of motorbikes and three-wheelers witnessed a decline of 12.34pc during the first nine months (July-March) of the current financial year (FY20) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

During the period under review, as many as 1,170,403 motorbikes and three-wheelers were sold in July-March FY20, as against the sale of 1,335,232 units in July-March FY19, according to data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).

The sale of Honda motorcycles in the country witnessed a decrease of 6.66pc, from 823,918 units last year to 768,974 units, while the sale of Suzuki motorcycles dipped 12.51pc, from 17,873 units last year to 15,637 units.

In addition, the sale of Yamaha motorbikes witnessed a nominal decrease of 0.28pc, from 18,193 units to 18,142.

Similarly, the sale of United Auto motorcycles went down from 281,776 units to 242,387 units (-13.97pc), while the sale of Road Prince motorcycles decreased from 123,348 units to 83,400 units (-32.38pc).

Meanwhile, the sale of Road Prince three-wheelers dropped of 22.46pc, from 8,634 units last year to 6,694 units during the period under review.

The sale of Qingqi three-wheelers fell by 44.50pc, from 17,238 units to 9,567 units, while the sale of United Auto three-wheelers plunged by 48.22pc, from 9,176 units to 4,751 units.
